Canucks decline. We aren't retaining salary AND taking a cap dump without Schneider (or Kakko but I would prefer Schneider)

Miller starts with Lundkvist.
Nemeth is 2.5M, while being labeled at dump he isn’t really a dump that is going to cost major assets. Nemeth might cost the 4th and Gaut, the rest of the package is fair for JT retained.

Rangers have no need for Colin Blackwell. I agree with my fellow commenter NYR1983 above.

Reward them with Lundkvist? There is no trade without Lundkvist.

So based on your explanation if Canucks don't retain or take Nemeth then Miller is only worth Gauthier, Kravtsov, 1st, 4th?? That's a return that prioritizes quantity over quality. It's void of anything remotely impactful.

The first rd pick is a given in any Miller trade, I think we can all agree on that, but with the addition of Miller it's very likely that pick is 28-32, which doesn't hold the value that most 1st's do. I see the base of this trade panning out in 2 ways if the 1st is a given:

Miller 50% retained = Schneider
Miller No retention = Lundkvist

Then the addition of a player like Barron, or Chytl (Not sure who've valued more in that organization)

I think quantity is a bit of an undersell. Kravstov is a highly touted prospect despite him not being in the NHL at the moment. A first is a given. The Nemeth and retention part is tricky if it required a 2nd to be added I’m all for it. I just don’t see the Rangers moving on from Schneider Kakko or Laf.

Barron could probably be added despite my fondness for his play.

I still think this is a workable deal, and with tinkering could be beneficial to both parties.

The Blackwell trade is a depth move. Goodrow has done well and is probably best suited on the 3rd line. However, I think grabbing a guy like Blackwell and allowing Goodrow to round out the 4th line makes the forward depth much greater. I’m not a big Dryden Hunt or Gauthier guy.

Not trying to say you think this…I was reading somewhere that Canucks fans think Laf is in the table for a trade. Is that true?

As to your point about Kakko and Schneider I would want them too. I don’t think the Rangers are going to part ways with them. If the deal was more workable with a player like Barron or Will Cuylle or a conditional 2nd round pick I think Drury will make that move.

I dont think the Rangers will trade Laf, but I have seen some Canucks fan who think they will.

Kakko and Laf are definitely off the table if I'm the Rangers. One of the reasons Canucks fans are locking onto Schneider is the Rangers depth on the right side. Fox and Trouba have the top 4 locked up so there isn't exactly a pathway for him. Also, hin and Hughes would be a very formidable pairing that we haven't seen in Vancouver since Edler/Bieksa in over 10 years. Personally, if there was no retention I'd do Miller for Schneider and a 2nd. I think that's how desperate the Canucks are for legitimate RD potential and depth.

That rumor comes from the Canucks hiring his former agent Emilie Castonguay as assistant GM. It was more used as clickbait for articles, there was no actual evidence behind it.
