Ideal TDL I think

Created by: aecliptic
Team: 2021-22 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 4, 2022
Published: Feb. 4, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
With the line up the way it is is nice, however I feel like Id rather have Goodrow on the 4th line and have either Cuylle or Othmann on the 3rd line LW when the juniors season ends.

BTW, what do you guys think Copp will command in a new contract? I mainly behind this trade because I believe we might be able to resign him. If that wasnt the case I wouldnt be trading Nils.
Trades
1.
NYR
  1. Giroux, Claude ($3,500,000 retained)
PHI
  1. Chytil, Filip
  2. 2022 1st round pick (NYR)
Additional Details:
We use the 1st round pick we saved to make a big trade for Giroux to fill a gap in the top 6 and hopefully solves our huge issue with 5 v 5 scoring.
2.
WPG
  1. Kravtsov, Vitali
  2. 2022 2nd round pick (STL)
3.
NYR
  1. De Haan, Calvin ($1,550,000 retained)
CHI
  1. 2023 2nd round pick (NYR)

The Winnipeg beat writer on the athletic thinks Copp will get a Zuccarello like package...2nd round pick and a conditional 3rd pick. Other trades are fine.

If thats the case, I dont mind at all. I wonder what his new contract numbers would look like.

I think this team is nasty - really good. But I'd be super careful about Giroux personally. Philly has been a dumpster fire since Pronger left and I don't think it's a coincidence that he's never won in the playoffs.

Honestly, Pavelski would be my preferred target however the Stars look like theyll be a fringe playoff team and Im not sure if theyll make a trade that would potentially put them out.

I like Pavelski too along with Jared McCann.

Murat Ates of The Athletic on 01/31/2022: (mailbag) If the Winnipeg Jets are out of the playoff race by the trade deadline, they should look at moving any free agent who isn’t in their long-term plans.

Have a feeling that Andrew Copp plans on testing free agency this offseason. Past comparable trades could be when the Detroit Red Wings traded Gustav Nyquist to the San Jose Sharks for second and a conditional third, and the New York Rangers trading Mats Zuccarello to the Dallas Stars for a conditional second and third-round pick.

I like McCann, but the main reason why I like Copp is I feel is a true 3C and we may be able to resign him. McCann may be too much to resign and Id like to make trades that wont disrupt the overall make up of the team.

I like Copp too but i think he QO is going to be slightly higher than $4M which I think is too rich for us to resign (and he is having a great year too so that pushes his AAV up) while McCann should come in a bit cheaper.

I think youre mixing the 2 of them up. Copp is a UFA, McCann is a RFA. However, I think we can afford something like 4.5m on Copp. BTW, this is all assuming that we resign Strome to a RNH deal that has extra term to lower the AAV.

Yeah my bad...i thought both were RFA's. Next season is going to be tough since we have roughly $11.5M in cap space (assuming $82.5M cap) to resign Strome, Kakko, Blais, Backup Goaltender, fill out the roster and leave some monies for rookie bonuses. Even if you trade Nemeth and Chytil, cap is still going to be tight but it is doable.

The jets already have an army of puck-moving defencemen, Lundqvist makes little sense.

Well, apparently to WPG beat writer it wont even take that much.

1. I don't think Kakko signs a $2M bridge deal and 2. when haven't the Rangers overpaid on a bridge contract? We gave Geogiev $2.425M, Chytil $2.3M, Vesey, etc. But i do like that 3rd line.
