I like Hertl but that's too much for a rental.

Would say yes but I'm concerned about Robertson's injuries. Rather it be Amirov or Niemela.

You can keep Kerfoot though no point in trading a decent roster player if you want to make a deep cup run.

Hertl's closest comparables for a deadline move would be Duchene going from Ottawa to Columbus or JG Pageau. So something like 2022 1st and a second round pick/prospect or two 3rd round level picks or prospects. He's super underrated and a legit impact player so I'd be super down to go all in for him.

If we're trading one of those top prospects we would probably not be trading a first-round pick. Mark Stone got a top prospect and a second which is probably the max the Leafs could offer. It depends what the sharks want more, Amirov/Robertson/Niemela + 2nd or 1st + Hirvonen

Mark Stone was not a center. Centers require more in return.

Hertl is going to cost 2 premium assets if he is dealt. Like 2 1st rounders or a 1st rounder and a top prospect. Just look at the Martin Hanzal trade with Minnesota a few years back to see how much more valuable centers are than wingers in trades (Hanzal went for basically a 1st and 2nd as basically a 2/3C).

Hayes got 1st, 4th and a prospect with a high floor

Duchene got 1st, a prospect that was picked in the 3rd round and a prospect that was picked in the 6th round

Pageau got 1st and a 2nd round pick

Hanzal got 1st, 2nd and a 4th

That Hanzal deal is an outlier and was criticized when it was made too, I have no idea what they were smoking when they made that move. Hirvonen is legit too, but he is the most expendable prospect for us at the moment and is worth more than the second-round pick that was used to draft him. He's a natural center too, which is something I've read the sharks need too.
