Lol love when people don't understand how trades have worked for all of time. You give up good pieces to get more immediate good players to win. Winning is the entire purpose of the game.
Oh yes, I was under the assumption that trades only benefit my team /s
Of course you give up equal/significant value when you make a trade. But let me help interpret this from your POV - if Vancouver was a playoff contender that was considered a long shot to actually win the cup this year, and say, St. Louis was not, would you be willing to part ways with Podkolzin for Ryan O'Reilly (who is signed through the rest of this season and next)? Coupled with the fact that VAN's second line center needed a big raise next year. I don't think so.

Aka "I usually believe Seevalli but because I don't like this rumour I do not believe it."
You were so excited to patronize me that you missed my point. Or chose to ignore it. Either way, I'll restate it for you - a mix of intel and speculation. A stand-up guy like Seravalli wouldn't just put something out for the hell of it. But the intel here is that the Rangers are interested in Miller. The speculation is who could - as he said, "potentially" - be in play. You think someone from the Rangers organization sent their whole trade block to Frank Seravalli, showing all their cards for VAN to exploit? No.
Remember when Buffalo was panicking and fabricated that Treliving was willing to trade Tkachuk for Eichel and fed the story to Kevin Weekes? And Treliving confirmed that it was not true and was incensed that someone would make something up like that? The only GM I think would be stupid enough to do that is Peter Chiarelli. Nobody does that.
So Seravalli obviously is speculating what COULD be potential returns from NYR. That's so obvious it hurts.
