San Jose Realistic Hopeful Moves To Be Competitive

Created by: Phippsy87
Team: 2022-23 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 11, 2022
Published: Feb. 11, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
DISCLAIMER: Ik Ferraro wants a 6 year deal dont look in to the term I gave him

These are moves I would like to see the sharks do if there goal was to compete by signing Hertl to a extension so to break it down:

1st Line:
LW: Eklund: He started on this line and I think we all know he will return to the top 6 he provides defense and playmaking to the line
C: Hertl: We all know the story on this two-way goal scoring forward
RW: Barabanov: Strong on the puck and can set up and sometimes score, he rumored to what a 4 mil by 3 which imo is a bit risky so I think Doug/Will will be able to get it to 3,200,000 x 2

2nd Line:
LW: Meier: Turning into that superstar we need
C: Couture: Still is a capable top 6 centre and the leader of the team
RW: Kessel: Good goal scorer and the so called “Shark Killer” joins the sharks

3rd Line:
LW: Dahlén: Easily good be a top 6 forward but if we would have excellent goal scoring depth if he was on the third line
C: Zacha: I really like his play he gets in the right places with a good shot and is a piece for now and the new core
RW: Balcers: A forechecking forward that is a Swiss army knife who can play up and down the line up

4th Line:
LW: Neito: This could be someone else job but I love his penalty kill and defence and you need some vets on a good 4th line
C: Bonino: Was viewed as the Sharks 3rd line C and has been a really good one around the league but I think right now he’s a 4th Line C on a good competition team
RW: Raska: The chippyness and energy shown by this young man would bowed really well on the 4th line

D-Pair 1:
LD: Middleton: Don’t fix what aint broke he seems to be the anchor EK needs much like a Methot to Karlsson in the Ottawa Days
RD: Karlsson: Fingers crossed this injury won’t set him back and he returns to healthy form

D-Pair 2:
LD: Ferraro: I think we all know what to say about him, he is rumoured to want a 6 year deal with the Sharks
RD: Merkley: This is a bit of a hot take, But I really think he would be able to step up and this good be a future d-pairing for the sharks for the next 7 odd years if all goes well I just feel like Burnsie sadly was ruining his game a bit.

D-Pair 3:
LD: Knyzhov: By this time I hope he has returned to full healthy and can return to the 20-21 form and good be a good new d anchor for Burns (Sorry sharks fans I would live to trade Burns)
RD: Burns: His offensive numbers are fine but he can’t play defence anymore he seems like he’s on a steep decline but can always log in massive mins.

Goalie:
We know the story on these 2 and I’m confident at least one of them will be above average goalies when it comes to games

Scratches:
Weatherby: He’s been alright lets see if he can hold the 4th line C next year
Reedy: Another depth forward who seems close to the NHL
Hatakka: He’s right there for the 3rd pair if Knyzhov does not return to what he was

Trades/Signings:
Simek: This could be to anywhere just depends who and price could be smaller
Cogliano: Chance we keep him but most likely he is offloaded for a mid round pick
Zacha: May need to add more but because its for his Rights only a 3rd is fair maybe a second like the Hill trade what do sharks fans think?

Kessel: Sharks were trying to trade for him in the offseason last year and I think a 5mil deal for a year would get our much needed top 6 forward or they could make a move for Toffoli as of course his wife is from the bay area
Gross and Welinski: Just AHL depth signings

Additional Details:
All are young players that need a change of scenery and I think Pavel could fit well in a 3C role in San Jose. This will be for Pavel's RFA rights as well and his value has kind of slide a bit, could be a win win if LaBanc gets the right situation and performs.

Drop the 4th to either a 5th or a 6th and Canes accept.

I don’t think Labanc would be a piece we’d ask for in a Zacha trade.

Sure maybe, But I really think this could work out both ways as LaBanc was a 60 point player who was in the top 6 and our current coach does not like him so he gets put on the 3rd/4th line with all defensive players and if u take him hes still young being 25 and good rebound in a excellent way if put in a position to suceed. Zacha has been better this year but he also needs a change of scenery and this is for his rights. What piece would you want

Honestly think it’s a little overpay for Zacha. Seems like a fairly lateral move from labanc to Zacha other than Zacha could potentially play center.

Fair point, But Zacha is a year younger and still has decent production the pick can go back depending on what the devils what but I just feel this what it would take as of now

Bordeleau and Coe are likely going pro next year, I think Bordeleau definitely makes the team.
