Something to Reignite the Group

Description
This is the most uninspired hockey I've seen from this team in years. If Fleury won't accept a trade here, I think it's best to bring back Holtby to try and reenergize the team. Even if he isn't a guy that can carry us to a Cup right now, the impact he would have on the locker room if he came back should spark the leaders of the team, and that energy should be contagious to the rest of the group. We can look into finding a long term solution in net during the offseason when we could try and grab someone like Varlamov in a trade or even go for Keumper in free agency if Colorado doesn't bring him back (whichh I see as unlikely). Grabbing Kessel as well can be a good option to fill the scoring role in the top six while Mantha is out and give us three really solid scoring lines when/if we can get back to 100%.

I think those are both offseason moves. As annoying as Hagelin's offensive woes are, the 62-26-21 line is still dependable and we rarely get scored on with those guys out there. Not breaking that up until we can get AJF in that spot during camp to develop chemistry with those two. I'd like to see McMichael at 3C instead of Eller but realistically Laviolette will never do that.

Agreed. I have to say watching eller play is killing me slowly.

Also a major problem is shot placement for this team.

Eller has definitely been having brain farts I've never seen him have with us. I'm more concerned with the lack of shots from inside the house and our cycle game than shot placement. Can't be too picky when every shot is either from the point or a bad angle. Three months ago we were wearing teams down on the cycle, winning puck battles, making good east-west passes and getting shots in dangerous areas. That's been pretty non existent the last month. And the power play is still the biggest disaster known to man.

I noticed the lack of east west passing. Great point. The shots from ovis spot on the powerplay has been at the belly of the goalie. We move the puck well When set up. Enter the zone has been a disaster.
