Lots of Philly scouts at the AHL affiliate games, so I have to think Barron will be in the discussion. He, Helleson, or Behrens will be one the main pieces IMO

Nope not 2 top prospects and a roster player for a guy they probably can’t re-sign

If the Flyers are as high on Ranta as rumoured then it's Ranta rather than Barron/Helleson/Behrens and if it one of the D trio it's more likely Behrens. Plenty of guys for the Flyers to scout on the Eagles besides Barron. Also the Avs have 1sts it just has to drop back a year and that actually does PHI a favour as '23 is reputedly going to be a better year than '22.

Going to be hard to press COL to give up much for Claude if hes tells them he only wants to go there but Ranta plus a pick makes sense.

Yup. Honestly they don't really even need to scout Barron, as he's very, very obviously the guy they'd want above all other options. That doesn't mean Colorado gives him up though.

Ranta, Kaut, Bowers, Maltsev, and Foudy are all guys they should be looking at in more detail. That's why scouts are there if you ask me.

tbh i think hes exactly what they need. Top line player on a team friendly deal that can play the middle plus since his contract expires after next year gives them cap flexibility when they resign McKinnon to all the moneys. He would be perfect though on the wing with Newhook to help him with Center/faceoff responsibilities as he develops much like he did with Petey when he got to VAN.

Sure in a vacuum, but they give up a cost controlled dman that is a top 4 guy and as much as nobody wants the best Byram is a question mark health wise which imo makes Sakic VERY reluctant to part with him. I’m not saying Miller isn’t worth that type of price but for the Avs he’s a 2nd line guy that you are paying 1st line price for and if the impetus is to protect Newhook you could always just slide Landeskog down because he did it for MacKinnon. Throw in the fact COL is short on picks those top prospects become more valuable because of the salary size and the roles you can plug them into.
