How is dumping Ritchie worth a 1st plus prospect they can buy him out for 300k against the cap? That’s worth like a 4th…

You know how buyouts work? It doubles the term. 300K next year, 1.1 the following year.

Doesn’t change the fact it won’t cost a 1st and a prospect to unload like come on. Even Folignos contract wouldn’t cost that to move. Arizona got a second and a third to take on Ladd at 5,5

Certainly wouldn’t cost just a 4th either. Its also a lot in real dollars. A 2nd seems fair.

tell yah what, find me one good stat for chariot, a single one that shows he is good at all defensively or describe to me what he is good at that prevents scoring chances against.

Is anyone even debating Chiarot's value based on his stats? If they are, by all means correct them. You're absolutely correct, his numbers don't look good. You're not revealing any secrets by citing them.
He's a physical presence that can play big minutes. He'll battle traffic in front of your goalie and leave bruises on opponents. He'll stand up for teammates and he can take a check. Those are the things GMs want him for. A no fear, no nonsense, meat and potatoes guy.
You don't have to like the idea, but you have to concede that GMs value those types of players in the playoffs.

sure, he can still be all those things and an absolute liability when it comes to actually playing hockey. Which he is. If a GM values all that stuff over actual impacts that help you win, they deserve to lose

That's a fair opinion. I'm just saying it's pointless debating whether an apple tastes good when people are telling you it hurts when they throw one at you. Both can be true. GMs just enjoy throwing apples more than eating them.

Ritchie cap dump requires another 1st rounder plus a decent prospect

no it dosent. way worse contracts have been moved. if the leafs are getting rid of ritchie alone it will only cost them a second.
but this isnt enough for chariot
