Description

This is all about Dach. When an older player signs a long term contract there's a thought that they might not be worth the contract the last few years. This is the reverse logic, the Hawks need to add a lot, and he might not be a six million dollar man now, but say three years from now, it might look great the last five years when we've accumulated more talent around him and are ready to win. In other words, use the cap space now to save for later. Or he doesn't get better and then...well six million dead space a year. Food for thought

personally id rather sign him to a cheap bridge cause kane and toews come off books after next year so well have the money to pay him when we need to so if we sign him to a 2x2 or 2m x 3 taht would prob be best as we can afford to pay him after that and hell be RFA controlled

I'm not confident in giving him that much money. I understand if things go well, it'll be a steal, but we need to remind ourselves that he only has 19 points in 46 games. If he doesn't develop as much as we'd hope, we'll be paying him a substantial amount of money for a VERY long period of time.

Interesting topic which is sure to divide. I like the kid, Certainly has things he needs to work on, mainly his face-offs but he has a lot of upside and a lot he can offer this team in the next decade if he sticks around. I personally would say no to this deal, I wouldn't want him becoming complacent. Thats the whole point of this ACGM but I sit in that camp.
