Description
Toffoli brought back a 1st, a 5th, an interesting prospect drafted in the 2nd round just last draft in Emil Heinenman, plus an expiring contract in T.Pitlick(1.75M). Kappy cheaper and younger.

Kappy playing poorly and still .75PPG last season and .5PPG this season. Let him get hot for acouple weeks or a month and he’s a 20 goal scorer again.

Everyone talks sh*t on Kappy, does a trade for him and then immediately inserts him on their teams 2nd Line..lol. His floor and ceiling are both high.

Since they traded a 1st(15th overall) and a prospect just a year and a half ago for him. If they don’t get atleast a 2nd and a (B, B-) prospect back, it’s a bad deal for them. And I doubt they do anything less than a prospect and a 2nd.

Because he’s in the doghouse, playing ok, making too many turnovers, and got moved down to the 3rd line tonight. Fans think he’d can be had for their garbage.

Sully just wanted to get the Geno line going. And moving Carter onto Geno wing might be a good move. Moving Kappy back with E-Rod(who played great together earlier this season) definitely is.

Isles probably decline. Looking for picks for those two guys. Kapanen isn't enough of an improvement to the Isles forward group that what we already have

I too would prefer picks, Kapanen is a great player but I feel like there isn’t a chance in hell that we would utilize him properly and get the most out of him. At least a 1st rounder or a 2nd and 3rd or something like that could be used in other moves or to draft talent we really like

penguins biggest issues right now is not having their 4th line.
Boyle just can't replace blueger and that line which use to take the defensive matchups is now getting far less ice time, and the 2nd and 3rd line is having to pick it up.
Needless to say, the second line is fundamentally flawed in doing that, and that has a lot to do with Mlakin not being a good faceoff man and goes 50/50 into playing defense.
I honestly think they should put Kap on Crosby's line, and put Rust with Malkin, where he belongs.
But Sully is stubborn. You put Kap with a guy like malkin who is a lazy player at times, and then wonder why he gets to be lazy too. Duh! It's not hard to figure out.
It's the same issue they had with Kessel.
You put him on a line with Crosby and the issues become less, and a guy with a motor like Rust on a line with Malkin and the line clicks like it has in the past.

This is why Sully has been a bad coach through the last few years. He gets something in his head and won't let it go.
Much like he won't play Zucker with Crosby. Even though most of us know Jake can play with Malkin but it's set in stone and that's all there is to it.
He just has no flexibility to attempt restructuring. It is what it is, but I think the realization of playing with Malkin is a harder find than people want to admit, which is why they have such a hard time filling that role.
