Getting some beef on D

Created by: robrob10
Team: 2021-22 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 21, 2022
Published: Feb. 21, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This is a trade for a Dman that gives the Wild some additional depth and physicality on the blue line. PURE RENTAL. As the Wild could not afford his next contract. But with the cap we have available for the rest of this season. Why not use some to add D depth. Many depth Dmen out there. This is just one example.

This makes sense to me. Given Addison’s better offensive okay, we’d be able to cover singular any loss in the top 4. Heard talks he wants to stay in ANA tho.

Addison has yet to gain my trust…especially for the playoffs! A move like this makes sense to me too.

Personally I'd rather upgrade in net, think we're better off trying to send this package for someone like Fleury. Dumba will be back eventually. Wouldn't hate this deal though.

I’m kind of ambivalent to if/what they go out to get. Kahk/Talbot have been fine, adding another guy just reduces Kahk’s looks down the stretch and knowing what you have in him is more important than a marginal upgrade there. Manson would be the 4/5 you need for a playoff run but then who sits? Up the middle? Boldy and Fiala are over ppg, any upgrade there is marginal.

I’m just not as high on this team as most. They’ve outpaced expectations all year, let them do it in the playoffs.

Manson's health is a concern for me. I'd have to know he's healthy before I'd consider a trade.

My preference would be to move Talbot in the deal. I like Kahkonen in the role he has been playing and would want us to continue having him as a backup, I just don't think we should continue starting Talbot. He's a fine goalie, but there's better available players out there.

Don’t deny that. Just seems a little galaxy brained. If Kahk takes the reins later this year and next, it’s a perfect transition to Wallstedt going 1A/1B with Kahk. I don’t think next year will be all that difficult from a cap POV. It’s the year after when you need to resign Addison and Boldy, and I think you need to plan at least 8 mil for Boldy at this point.

This is much better than I could have written and I agree with all of it!
