The general consensus is that it probably is. A team that needs to reach the floor may take a chance on him, but most people believe he's done.

it would take WAYYYYYY more than a 4th round pick to convince VGK to not take a proven 2nd line young player like Silverberg.

I have a couple questions. First if the plan is to make Vatanen part of a trade, why wait until after the expansion draft to do it? Do it before hand and then you can protect Silfverberg and make Vegas take Vermette or someone else. Second why would the Ducks give up on Gibson so quickly. The whole point of trading Anderson in the offseason was that they trusted Gibson to be their goalie of the future. So why trade him and then sign Bishop to an expensive contract when they're going to need that money next year to sign all their RFAs?

    1. Despres isn't going to play again, trade him to AZ and help them out with the cap floor.

    2. Trade Vatanen before the draft and get a center who can play with Perry.

    3. Vermette will be taken by VGK, Silfverber will be protect, Bieksa waives his NMC and we only lose Vermette because of it.

    4. Trading Gibby away will never happen, BM made the decision to stick with him and that will happen. If we were to trade GIbby, flyers would be giving up so much more than that.

    5. Resign Eaves and Bernier and this team will be just fine.

Again the Despres trade is based on the BAD logic that Las Vegas isn't going to reach the cap floor. All 30 teams (if you read the trades posts) are trying to cap dump on Vegas. Looks like they will have trouble staying under 120m. Bad trades all around for Ducks.
