Why does Arizona do this? They took on cap for you, took on pretty meh players earning that cap for you, used their only retention slot remaining for you which you even described lowers who they can make deals with for Kessel and got very little in return for any of it. How does that make any sense for Arizona?

No dice, MAF is being shopped for a first alone and dehaan is worth a second with the salary retention. The condition makes it even easier to pass since i doubt the oilers make any deep run

Marlies got so many guys rn that are not on NHL deals in their system providing most of the offense

Ho-Sang, Soumela, Bladansi, etc. They will be fine.

No doubt. I just hate deadline deals. Never worth it unless you can keep someone around. In this case i would hope MAF would stay. I can understand not getting DeHaan back though. I jsut threw him in cuz it probably wont be worth it in the end anyways.

I can tell you from experience, it's worth it even if they walk if you get your name on the cup, but that's the big risk! Roll the dice and go for it when your windows open

Its the war within the war. Its worth it for the experience but you have to know your going to win a round at least or else its a pretty big loss iis it not? Though MAF in the locker for a couple months could change EDM for the better.

Like look at the leafs. God, what a waste of every deadline deal. 1st rounders should almost always be off the table, but that is not at all the world we live in. Because life is exciting in the NHL trade world whether people think it is or not.

You're right about the possible of swinging and missing...we know that too well after our 3 cups. that Montreal trade giving up a second and Danault...for nothing....sucks. But first round picks should always be on the table for competing teams, look at Pittsburgh they trade there's almost every year. The end of the first rarely ever pans out. Sports are a gamble. at some point to have to push your chips all in if you want to win
