That would be a terrible trade for Montreal. Galchenyuk is a first line center and he's not even in his prime yet. Plus that would be way too much to give up even if you wanted giroux.

I disagree that Chucky is 1st line center. (I think he'll end up becoming a solid 1st line winger when all is said and done) But I would not give him up for an aging Giroux. If Habs trade Galchenyuk it better be for a player of similar age (Huberdeau, Drouin type players)

Totally agree with Blazingbat11.

But your intention is ok, Habs need a #1 C, if they want to be a contender. In my opinion you are really overpaying Beaulieu. My maximum offer would be $5 - $6 million for 2 years, $7.5 to $10 for 3 years, or
maybe, if he steps up in the play offs $12 to $15 million for 4 years.
