I see your point but I don't think a teams mindset would be "oh you're gunna have the best d core in the league if we trade you this player? Well we want your best young player that you draft 1st oa 2 years ago" its just not logical at that point it would be just going after some like lindholm

I honestly think there’s a bit of that in play. They can say to Florida chychrun is the tipping point on a championship team, we want knight or lundell (wont get him). Similar thing with the rangers, you’ve got a hart caliber goalie and we’re solidifying your D in front of him at a cost controlled price for shesterkin’s entire contract. Pay accordingly.

Now would I personally trade laf for chychrun? Probably not. I’d try to shoehorn him into being a RW. But the logic is definitely there for Arizona to ask and hold out for the moon.
