Maatta isn't the Dman avs would target. Sodeberg would be a bad fit on the Pens with how Sullivan coaches. I don't see how the Pens and Avs could be good trade partners when it comes to Duchene and a good young Dman. Maatta isn't that anymore, sorry, but he doesnt move the needle with how his development has stalled due to injuries, health, etc since that one good rookie season

Thanks for the feedback. I was looking at Soderberg as more of a helping out the Avs by getting him off of their books type thing. I totally understand the Maatta concerns. He's still only 22 so he could regain form (hard to make a trade based on that hope, however). Even if he does, I don't see him as a great fit in Pittsburgh. He could possibly go in the expansion draft if the Pens protect 7F-3D. If I'm the Pens, I protect Letang and Dumo for sure. Then, I protect Schultz who has turned out to be a top 4 RHD for the Pens.

moving Soderberg would be a nice add for the Avs but I just don't think he is going anywhere via trade. I don't see why any team would trade for him at this point. Avs have a lot of cap space next season so they don't have to worry about getting rid of him right now. I think they are going to take on some bad contracts to gain assets like Carolina did last year.
