I didn't even look at the trade I'm just coming on here to say it's BS and favors Toronto. Predictions are 99% accurate with a 1% margin for error. Let me know if I was right.

LOL Mostly right. This one isn't as bad as most of the deals.

Out of curiosity what exactly do you guys think Garland's value is? A first, a decent prospect and a middle six forward on a good contract seems like a very fair return to me

I think that is fair maybe a little high depending on the prospect. I think a B+ prospect and a low first is reasonable. Leafs' fans will likely push back, but I think someone like Neimela is a B+ prospect. So if the Leafs offered Neimela and a first, Vancouver takes that.

I do think you're undervaluing Kerfoot a lot in this trade but I can understand wanting a better prospect than Abruzzese. I don't think the leafs would trade Niemela though

Kerfoot doesn't fit with Vancouver's plan. Wrt value, his tenure with the Leafs has been mixed. He's done well this year, but it's fair to say that Toronto would prefer a redo of that trade.

Niemela isn’t available. Go look at the list of players who won best defensemen at the world juniors then come back. Niemela is one of the best RD prospect in the entire league.

LOL... So do you think he's better than Brandt Clarke, Helge Grans, Brock Faber, Scott Morrow, Alexander Nikishin, Corson Cuelemans, or Branden Schneider?

He's absolutely in the same tier as all those guys besides maybe Clarke. What he's doing in one of the best leagues in the world as a teenaged defensemen is amazing. Probably the leafs best prospect imo

You're joking right? The writer is a Leafs writer. He's not even a prospect specialist. Scott Wheeler from the Athletic has Neimela as the 3rd best Leafs' prospect. https://theathletic.com/3072179/2022/01/27/wheelers-2022-nhl-prospect-pool-rankings-no-15-toronto-maple-leafs/

This is what Cory Pronman had to write about Neimela:

89. Topi Niemala, RHD, Toronto

Mar. 25, 2002 | 5-foot-11 | 156 pounds

Drafted: No. 64 in 2020

Sept. 2021 Ranking: 177

Tier: Projected middle of the lineup player or starting goaltender

Skating: NHL average
Puck skills: Below NHL average
Hockey sense: Above NHL average
Compete: NHL average

So there are different opinions on a prospect? What a surprise? Can Robinson likes him others less so. My description of a B+ prospect is not out of line.

What exactly is Vancouver's plan, they don't really appear to have any plan outside of move out anything Benning did except Pettersson, Demko and Hughes

Plan is to get younger, get cap space and get picks. Not so much a rebuild as build around the three players you mentioned.
