Kessel maybe gets the 4th round pick, but not Chytil.

Kessel doesn’t get Chytil. 2nd-3rd with retention to a different team also. His value is higher to any other play off team who needs retention on their adds

No, I said MAYBE gets you a 4th. Reading is fundamental.

He has 33pts in 54 games that’s worth way more than a 4th. Also no team in the league would trade a 2nd rounder for Chytil

I created my own thread but think the Islanders would be interested in Ghost. I was thinking two 2nds (a 2022 and 2023 to make them a little more valuable) plus Bailey. Added Bailey considering the Coyotes will need to hit the cap floor (60.2 Mill)

Coyotes will probably hold onto Ghost until the deadline to maximize value

Chytl is mostly to make the money work. Feels like he needs a change of scenery IMO

Nah he is fine. He hasn’t been healthy most of the season. He’s looking much better now. We have over 30M to spend at TDL so there’s no need for us to move money out. If you need money back we can toss in Nemeth

And there have been multiple reports the Yotes haven’t had any bites for a 3rd rounder for kessel with retention, so far. There’s little to no chance they get a significant roster player for him.

Would love to move Burns’ salary. As long as the Sharks aren’t paying to get rid of it looks all good.

Except you have to pay us to take on Nemeth’s contract. Makes no sense to include him

So toss in a 7th or just leave the trade as Kessel for a 4th. Make it nemeth and a 3rd

Nemeth is a non-starter I think. Too many good young defensive prospects knocking on the door. Kessel will fetch more than a 4th on his own

With another team he will. We should be the last team you try to deal him to

I disagree I think Kessel slots in very well to NYR lineup. When Kakko is back you have him with Krieds and Zib, and then Kessel with Strome and Panarin. Or have Laf up on the opposite wing and have Kessel play 3rd line. Dryden Hunt has been playing well but Kessel is undeniably an upgrade and makes the team better. Vegas makes a ton of sense for Kessel as well but they are not going to have the cap room to make it work, not as much of an issue for the Rangers

The fact of the matter is that he would play 3RW but I dont think you realize that if another team could take him on they will, he’s not a guy we are going to burn picks on. You will get more value for him from a team that needs the retention. We aren’t just paying a 2nd if we are the only buyer out there. Do you get this? It’s cheap for a COL to pay a 3rd team to do more retention too. NYR don’t care about it so we aren’t about to match and raise the cost.

I get what you’re saying. But at the end of the day, we’re talking about the difference between a lottery ticket with a 0.1% chance of hitting versus a lottery ticket with a 0.01% chance of hitting. Rangers are hitting the end of the rebuild and don’t really need 3rd or 4th round picks. Maybe Kessel isn’t the right guy, but holding onto mid-round picks instead of spending them to upgrade the roster is not how to win games in May

Oh I agree. But if there plan is to spend it will be on bigger fish. I see them either spending a 3rd-5th on a guy or going all out for a Pavelski/Giroux
