I like the COL-PIT deal

Avs would have to find another C somewhere though

Not sure Pens would want to take on the salary and terms of JTCompher and Jost. Just because they have to extent Geno, Letang and Rust in the offseason. Probably gonna need most all of the cap space they can get this offseason.

Avs 3rd line of O’Connor/Newhook/Kappy looks better on paper. And a 4th line of ZAR - Sherwood - NAK

And they save 600k in cap space. They need all the cap space they can get.

I also like the COL trade, but agree with the poster above that the Avs would need to find a C elsewhere.

Might make sense to remove one of Jost/Compher and replace with someone like Helm/Aube-Kubel + a late pick or B prospect to even up the value.

I don’t think Pens have any need for Helm or Aube-Kubel. I looked at both. I think they have players in their organization that are younger and more potential that they would rather give PT too. Let alone to move Kappy/ZAR to acquire then.

Players like OConnor, Zohorna, Angello, Poulin, Hallander, Bjorkqvist, even Puustinen and Nylander. Although I don’t think Puustinen and Nylander fit in a bottom 6 role. They are top 6 or bust prospects.

I mostly meant as in warmer bodies and replace Jost or Compher with futures as a return. I wouldn’t want Helm either lmao

I don’t think they have any need for them. Or even futures for a contending team. Especially when moving out Kappy and ZAR.

Maybe Burke/Hextall would want draft picks and a prospect. But you can see it even on capfriendly. I’ve seen almost every teams fans post an ACGM wanting them to acquire Kappy.

Yes, he’s in the doghouse right now but he’s super talented. It’s undeniable on the ice. Super fast, wicked wrist shot, decent playmaker, plays physical, and good 200-foot player too.

He’s a .5 -.75 PPG player when playing poorly. That’s a pretty good “floor”. Let him get hot for acouples weeks and he’s a 20 goal scorer again.

If even a fraction of GMs are interested like their teams fans are on capfriendly then a GM would have to overpay with draft picks and prospects. Cause I think, Pens would rather a deal that helps them now. Unless it’s an overpay with picks and prospects. And that’s not Helm and Aube-Kubel.

And if I posted a trade like that then I’d get a bunch of stupid comments from Avs fans. But I think that’s what it would have to be if it was picks and prospects.

Point being that I like the initial trade but the roster construction element for the Avs doesn’t really work as well (giving up 2 centers for 2 wingers) without other moves. Pending UFAs or young prospects is an option to try to cure that.

Ya, like said, I don’t think a contending team would be interested in prospect or picks. Especially taking away from their current roster, unless it’s an overpay.
