Description
Not very exciting, but trying to turn Compher into two bottom six players.

The Giroux trade is somewhat secondary for this acgm. It's optimistic but I figured good enough since I mainly want thoughts on the Compher and Clutter trades.

This shows as over the cap, but if Landy goes on LTIR then it should work.

I don't think we really have a need for Compher when we're rebuilding

I would agree but GMs tend to value roster players more than we do, and Compher is young enough to help usher younger guys in over the next handful of years. He seems to play well in his hometown too.

I mean it's not a terrible trade but he only has one year left so if he's willing to take a hometown discount then maybe, otherwise we'll be flipping him next year

Good point. If you put him in a position to succeed and retain at next year's tdl, you could turn him for a profit.

Giroux’s worth more than that, swap the third for Helleson

I mentioned in the description that my trade is optimistic, but I think that's a bit steep. Helleson in for Ranta makes sense. I don't think Sakic does all of Helleson, Ranta, and a 1st though.

Helleson in for Ranta is still too little. It's gotta be two players and the first. Think any 2 of the groupings of either Helleson/Barron/Olaussen and another player like Bowers/Kaut/Ranta and a first.

I doubt it would be wise to part with a 3rd at this point. Adding a decent depth player is all well and good but with the talent on our roster already, we already struggle with middling mediocrity.

I hear ya and would say the same tbh. I figured Chicago had multiple thirds and might look to use one for a guy they think coukd help in the short to intermediate term. I have no gripes about that point of view though.
