with the Flames 15-2-1 in their last 18 games, I highly doubt they consider this.

I dont know why the Rangers consider this for someone who has been on a steady decline over the last 2-3 years.

because they need to resign gaudreau, Monahan isn't the reason there 15-2-1 and he needs a fresh start

Flames won't be retaining. If we trade Monahan its to clear his whole contract. We will need as much cap of the books as possible with Gaudreau Tkachuk Mangiapane Kylington all needing raises and Ruzicka playing so well

I dont want that here. I would rather trade for Copp and resign him to around 4.5m or Stastny and give him a 1yr extension at 3.25m.

Get a 3rd team involved- to eat 1/2 his salary and cap hit remainder of this year and next…I’m sure there are a few teams that would be interested in weaponizing cap to get a pick and/or prospect or two (Seattle??).

Monahan has been regressing- but maybe a new situation benefits him…and a 3C at 3M might be good for NYR
