The east is stacked this year. Making it out of the first round is looking worse by the day we should just keep our picks and prospects at this point and hope for the best

I dont think Dubas has that mindset, his job is probably on the line, or real close to it

I doubt Dubas gets fired even if they lose in the 1st round. It would take multiple playoff misses for him to get fired.

I mean, they've been knocked out of the 1st round every year..... They're definitely talented, how come Dubas can't get them over the hump?

Dubas would not get fired. Whatever Toronto's problem is, it definitely isn't a GM problem.

Not sure his job is on the line, but I think Toronto's most likely matchup is going to be Tampa in the 1st round.

Safe to say I think we all know who is more likely to come out on top.

The team was up 3-1 in the playoffs last year. He put that team in a spot where they should've at bare minimum went to the second round. He can't play the game for them. Let's not forget that this is the third GM this decade that has built a team that has choked a playoff series yet everyone believes that they somehow has done a better job.

Sometimes you just have give a team time. Look at the Capitals.

Also, give credit where credit is due, many scouts have been high on the drafting ability the Leafs have had in the Dubas era, his low-value signings have beared fruit numerous times now, his trading ability at bare minimum has been a wash and the real only complaint has been the dealings in expensive contracts which looking over:

Matthews - Great Valie
Marner - Proper Value
Nylander - Good Value
Tavares - Looks pretty bad but was lower than market value in his UFA period
Brodie - Proper Value
Mrazek - Huge Miss

He has had his ups and downs but this is his fourth year with the team and he's honestly done better than most can say about their own front offices. Now, I do want to preface this with a what-if they lose this year, or what if nothing gets addressed at the deadline, then I absolutely think there will be an expiry date on his tenure with this organization. But as for now, I think you have to let him do what he is paid to and we are not paid to

Completely agree.
Like you said last year wasn’t on him, he put together a team that could at least win a round. Also not his fault foligno and JT got hurt. They still should of won anyways.

I’d be surprised if he was fired for another loss. He may have to change his philosophy a bit and trade nylander but we’ve seen GMs have a lot more time with less results.
I think people forgot too, trading/signing/drafting players isn’t is only job, he oversees an entire staff. He seems to have a good relationship with his staff and players and is genuinely a good person. That can’t be understated with what we have seen recently out of some front offices.
I would give him the chance to shake up the core himself before moving on.

Depends, the previous years guys like Matthews, Marner etc didn't play to their capabilities. What is Dubas supposed to do about that? He's assembled a team that should've won rounds.
