this is the oilers team

Created by: datmonkey91
Team: 2021-22 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 18, 2022
Published: Mar. 18, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
1.
EDM
  1. 2022 3rd round pick (DAL)
DAL
  1. Barrie, Tyson
Additional Details:
The team doesn't have to be Dallas but with Barrie not fitting into the team anymore, the oilers should be looking to move him. His offensive analytics over a 3 year period have been pretty decent (similar to Klingberg, check naturalstattrick). But, as we've seen from recent trades, dmen with a higher cap hit who teams are looking to move out won't bring in much as we've seen from the last two Schmidt trades. However, Barrie is still a solid nhl player who can quarterback a PP1. A guy Dallas will need with the departure of Klingberg in the offseason.
2.
PHI
  1. Benson, Tyler
  2. 2022 1st round pick (EDM)
  3. 2023 3rd round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
Don't know why Philly would trade one of their best dmen but given the recent signing of Risto, they'd do this.
3.
NYI
  1. Samorukov, Dmitri
  2. 2022 3rd round pick (DAL)
  3. 2023 2nd round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
Since the Isles are going with Pulock and Dobson on the right side for their top 4, Mayfield would be stuck playing bottom pairing minutes. Their best interest would to be shopping him around as he only has a year left in his contract after this season. Getting solid picks and a prospect back would be ideal as their prospect pool runs thin and essentially they're giving up their 3rd pairing guy (easily replaceable) for future pieces.

i think sanheim probably gets another significant piece on top of the 1st considering what chairot got as a rental

mayfield is better, cheaper and has more term than chiarot plus is a righty with all his same physical, playoff hockey characteristics. this doesn’t get it done.

If the dman market revolves around the Jones and Chairot trades, it would be in no teams' interest to make a trade for a defenseman. Both takes make sense, but I sure hope dmen nowadays aren't overpriced.

Risto is also a RD, Sanheim is LD.. his extension doesn't really play into him staying or leaving. That being said, Sanheim would also get more than that... probably another roster player.

the thing with both of these guys is that they have another year, so they have time to sit on the players and wait for better offers in the summer or next deadline if they want
