I actually think that makes perfect sense. BOS doesn't really have the pieces to seriously go after either Lindholm or Church. BOS doesn't usually trade for the splashy guy either. Hall had all the cards which is why that return was so low. He's an outlier in terms of return, but go look at BOS history at the TDL. Marcus Johansson, Tommy Wingels, Stafford, Stempniak, John Michael Lisles...they just don't make the splashy move. They do under the radar acquisitions and definitely won't give up a 1st for anyone.

They did gave a 1st in the Rick Nash and David Backes trades. Chychrun and Lindholm especially would be overpays if they match the reported asking price so they shouldn't do it anyways.
