Canucks are 3 points from Vegas and 8th playoffs spot with one game in hand. Pretty impressive considering their awefull season start. Would be stupid to do a fire sale now.

Look what you can get for Motte since the market is high, maybe add a decent 2nd goalie and wait until the summer for the big moves.

Ok I went back and took a second look. Some of the trades are heavily tilted in Vancouver's favour, the PITT trade is especially bad, others aren't to far off.

I think COL, PITT, VGK, STL and NYR all so no, quickly. The rest are probably pretty close to what it would take to pry the players from Vancouver's roster. The COL trade probably isent to far off value wise, I just don't see them trading Newhook. An insider said the other day that the Canucks are wanting a top 40 pick if they are to trade Motte, so although that's a big ask, its probably close to asking price. The LA trade is fair value.

I will say, I also think the team should sell at the deadline if the prices are right, regardless of whether they have a chance at the playoffs this year. The team has a chance to clear cap space and turn bare prospect cupboards into overflowing ones. By not selling high and collecting young assets we are going to continue to be stuck in mediocrity, at best...
