    Given the asking price, a 2022 second round pick. A third round pick in 2 years does not help Vancouver

    How does it matter if it's a yr away? and 3rd plus prospect is similar value to a 2nd not to mention a 4th line rental isn't likely returning a 2nd to begin with.

    A second round pick is more likely to be impactful compared to a third rohnder. Say they take two years to develop. That’s means the 2022 second round pick will be on the team in 2024. If you’re giving us a 2024 third, that guy would just be drafted and would not provide anything for the Canucks.

    Haha well fair enough it's probably further out that you'd want but 3rd and prospect is totally fine value for a player like Motte. 24' is a bit much you are right.

    No team is going to allow for terms to downgrade picks if you fail in the playoffs
