Yeah othmann isnt going to be nhl ready next season. Hes more of a longer term project with a lot of upside.

Gonna be interesting to see how all the new pieces fit together- and the effect on Chytl’s play.

As far as Othmann- I guess we’ll see in camp if he can make the big jump from where he’s killing it right now…thing is though- I don’t think he turns 20 till January…I believe he is ineligible for the AHL until then. Someone correct me if I’m wrong- this can be a big consideration in roster construction for next year

Regardless, Othman and Cuylle are both slide eligible for a 2nd year. I wouldn't think about touching them next year. Let them overdevelop, destroy junior hockey completely, and come in with a ton of confidence while also protecting the long term future of the rangers. Gives them an extra year of cap flexibility and with Miller, Laf, Kakko, Kravtsov, Jones, Schneider, Chytil (obviously all may not be here but) needing new deals, it'll be imperative they protect themselves from overextending the cap space they'll have. I'm really hoping the rangers can get both Laf and Kakko on the Kotkaniemi deal, 8 years under 5m. The way they've produced it is definitely a possibility
