I've seen a lot of Oiler fans fret about the off-season and the cap casualties that will ensue, but I think folks are forgetting about how much cap could potentially come off the books. However the off-season is very reliant on if one or both of Smith and Keith retire, especially Keith. Nevertheless, with some bridge deals, off loading Barrie and Kassian, and the arrival of Holloway and Broberg, I think this team could potentially improve rather than regress. I don't trust Holland all that much but if he's willing to move some pieces around to keep the young core, I think next season could be a cup year. Let me know what you guys think.

Note: if Keith retires, the Oilers also receive a 3 million dollar cap relief on top of the 5 million in savings. I don't think this tool would account for that, but if you think one of my signings was a little naive then you can dip into that 3 mil.
