Unfortunately, your thought process is missing out on the facts that ... 1- Suziki cap hit goes to 7.8M next season. 2- Romanov is a FA 3- Drouin will be OFF IR 4- Pitlick is also RFA and it looks like you are already over the cap by a bunch with Weber already on LTIR .

Besides the fact that Jason Zucker blocks this, he still has more value than Mike Huffman. Hoffman has not so good reputation which follows him

Pens decline. Hoffman has an extra year than Zucker so not worth the first. Plus, Hoffman is probably the worse of the 2 (Zucker still useful when not scoring, Hoffman isn't really)
