Although Kassian has a bad cap hit the salary cap is starting to go up. Foegele is a solid bottom 6 LW option. Watson has a higher value than kass so the 5th evens out value wise. Watson only has 6 points this year where kass + Foegele have a combined 39 (Kass 16, Foegele 23).

I agree he is probably the worst defensive defenseman in the league, however he would be 2nd on the Canucks in defenseman scoring even if you cut his PP points in half. to me he's an upgrade on Luke Schenn and Brad Hunt

In a vacuum the point about Watson and Kassian makes sense but when term and dollars are taken into account their value isn’t close at all.

Watson could be traded this off-season with one year left at 1.5m and return a late round pick. No one is paying you anything for Kassian this off-season with 2 years left at 3.2m, you’re going to have to pay to move that asset and I’m not sure Foegele makes up for the difference given the down year that he’s had.

Kassian is a cap dump, Watson is not. I’d pass on this.

sure but Schenn and Hunt are also making league min this year, 17 of his 31 points are power play points he would play on our 2nd unit which gets like 20 seconds of ice time per powerplay, without his powerplay points he is tied with Shcenn for 4 in points amongst Dman on the Canucks, while making 4.5mil on the wrong side of 30 i don't see a fit here what so ever
