Isles Offseason

Created by: AndrewGoalie33
Team: 2022-23 New York Islanders
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 30, 2022
Published: Mar. 30, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Matt Martin -> CBJ
— Could be anywhere.

Varlamov -> BUF
— Buffalo doesn’t have any experienced goalies for next season and Varlamov is still really good, Buffalo gives up an expected late first in Florida’s pick.

Fiala -> NYI
— Minnesota doesn’t have any money to sign him at the moment, but still get a solid package for him. Bellows has shown that he has offensive talent if you watch him, Holmstrom was a former first round pick and Minnesota gets Florida’s first that NYI acquired from the Varlamov trade.

Panik -> ARI
— Arizona has to make the cap floor, his AAV is so little so NYI likely doesn’t have to attach a pick.

Could sign more UFAs, but NYI has to conscious of cap room because Barzal and Wahlstrom are RFAs next year and Mayfield is a UFA, all players that are due for big raises (Barzal and Mayfield especially).

    All are good but Varlamov. Doubt Buffalo wants him and they dont give up a 1st for him either. More likely to see 2 seconds from like Washington then use that to flip. Lines should be Fiala-Barzal-Wahly——> Lee-Nelson-Beau —-> Bailey-JG-Palms—-> idc then P and P ——> X-Dobby —-> X-Mayfield

    If Varlamov was 24 it'd be a different story but BUF can get their veteran goalie in Free agency without losing that draft pick and cheaper, too.

    Ok, that trade could be sent to a couple teams like Edmonton, Toronto, or Chicago just to name a few. I sent him to Buffalo because Varly would probably waive his NMC for there.

    Sabres MIGHT be interested in Varlamov,
    but ABSOLUTELY NOT for a 1st

    He turns 34 in less than a month
    We’ll go overpay a UFA instead

    big no from Buffalo for a rental inconsistent goalie

    He is older, worse, not cost control, and not RFA, when Colorado gave a 1st and 2nd for him, and you somehow think buffalo would give a 1st and a 6th for him.

    Kieffer wouldn't play in MIN. He's also a restricted free agent with history of steroid suspension..they also have no need for d prospect

    Holmstrom is a winger and Bellows would come cheap as an RFA so it’s not really a big deal. His RFA deal would be like 3x$1mil
