Ya which is 100% fair not t to move him if they dont need too. But in the scenerio that they were going to, if the habs came in with an offer of Barron a late First and Poehling(may not be realistic given where the habs are in their rebuild curreitnly) I assume the jets would take that call and see where it led.

Possible, but very unlikely. I don't view Barron as having for sure top pairing potential, but maybe the Jets would. Poehling doesn't add much as a meh 4C. The 1st is nice if it's Montreal's, unprotected, if it's a late 1st then it isn't enticing, but I can't see Montreal being able to add anything else that gets Winnipeg to reply with anything other than a polite "thanks for calling, we'll be in touch if anything comes up."

The Jets aren't trading Dubois, but if they were it wouldn't be for a lowball offer like this. Montreal doesn't have the assets required to get into a conversation for Dubois if he was moved.

hell yes they have the assets
a top 3 pick, Caulfield, 3 firsts etc, but i get your point
they dont have the assets willing to give up to acquire him

Those are all fine additions to a main piece. Montreal just lacks that main piece.

I cant see a top 3 pick not a main peice
even suzki can be a main peice.
They wont give him up but i heavily disagree they lack the assets

That's cool. We can disagree. I just don't see anything in Montreal, including Suzuki, that the Jets would consider if moving Dubois. Suzuki is nice and all, but I can't see the Jets giving up Dubois' size for Suzuki.

Yes, while a top 3 pick is nice, there's still no reason for Winnipeg to consider that as the main piece as Dubois is far more valuable to Winnipeg now than a top 3 pick is. So why would they consider it?

We're not talking about a situation where the Jets have to trade Dubois and are looking for the best available options. We're talking about Montreal trying to entice Winnipeg to trade a player they have absolutely no intention of trading. In that guise, Montreal doesn't have the assets to accomplish that.

I like the idea of getting Drouin, especially with retained. If you take Kassian in and we get Drouin with retained, we can do a first or a 5th + (A- prospect).

Drouin 50% retained for Bourgault + Konovalov + Kassisan + 5th?
