Description

Carey Price comes back with 10 games left in the season and shows that he is still able to play up to a starter level. Gets traded out at the draft in MTL and MTL draft BPA (in this case Slafkovsky). With the CGY pick MTL drafts Lunneau. MTL drafts Hughes son with the very early 2nd round pick that MTL has.

Drouin is bought out. Hoffman is traded somewhere with a mid level pick to get rid of him and his contract.

I'm torn on what to do with Gallagher. He is a good player and works hard but he can't seem to stay healthy and it also seems like it's a "changing of the leadership guard" going on in MTL and I believe that Gallagher might be pissed if he is passed over for Captain in favor of Suzuki. I decided to try and sell him without retention, taking back salary in return. The scenario does not have to be ANA, it can be for example to CGY for Monahan. Just basically to another team for little value.

I have 24 players on the roster instead of 23 because I either heard on HNIC (Hockey Night in Canada) or read in an article that starting next season teams can carry a 3rd goalie along with 3 scratches.

Why would Arizona retain on price for that little? Edmonton is also not trading for price, even with that but of retention they can't afford him. Price is never going to be traded ever. He's going to end his career in Montreal.
Anaheim has no interest in Gallagher, he's another guy who will never be traded and is going to end his career in Montreal.
Washington is a team that needs to dump cap, they aren't taking more on for longer term. They are also not trading Samsonov.

^ Couldn't agree more with everything. Arizona definitely gets shafted here. No way that ever goes through unless Montreal retains the full 50% or gives up a whole lot more for Arizona to take 25%.

You're probably right about Price, but @ 5M AAV a team might try to make it work (but probably not)

Anaheim and Washington hit the nail on the head. Not sure about the 2nd Washington one as much but probably never happens.

Hopeful, biased Montreal fans thinking every team is going to feel bad and help them out with these trades

With $6M in cap space, no need to buy out Drouin.

Believe WSH will sign Samsonov. I think we can go with Allen and Montembeault anyway and be somewhat competiktive as a bubble team, probably on the outside.

I would not do the ANA deal. Mailloux has more value. Also I believe that Gallahger will retire in the next two years if he can hardly play, so see what happens for a year or two. We don't really care if we have him on the cap next year at least.

Hoffman is a better passer than many thought and he is putting in an effort defensively at this time, so I am not seperate to give him away yet. He is moveable with $1M in retention, but we can try him next year and see how that works for a full season.

Management generally doesn’t draft family members, conflict of interest and all that.
