CBJ do need RD; but, they need a true RD1 or RD2. I think you’re onto something here, but not sure if CBJ are willing to give up a 2nd.

Barrie is the opposite of what Columbus needs. Columbus needs a defensive defenseman to play with Bean on the 3rd pair, and honestly Bean and Kukan haven’t been bad this season.

Honestly, Peeke could probably be that defensive D on the third pair. He's looked pretty out of place on the first pair. Z-Boqvist, Gavrikov-Barrie, Bean-Peeke with Carlson/Kukan/Bayreuther rotating as needed could work. However, he's expensive and older so he doesn't really fit the window. Interesting idea, I wouldn't pay a 2nd though, maybe a 3rd and 4th/5th instead?

I don’t disagree, but Peeke hasn’t been bad on the top pair. It’s also been Werenski’s worst season defensively and he needs help. Boqvist and Bean are offensive defenseman just like Werenski is.

One of Columbus’s best d pairs this season has been Gavrikov and Boqvist, personally I’d love to see Columbus go for Chychrun, but the price might be too high.

I think Connor Murphy is the exact type we need.

But yeah, the ask for these guys is likely going to be cost prohibitive…

Two more interesting options could be Gudbranson and Zadorov. Both are rugged defensemen the first being a RHD and Zadorov can play both sides but also brings that toughness the Jackets need.

Gudbranson could be a great pickup in FA. He’s got size, could fill in the B4, likely come cheap.
