Description
Moving Eller out allows us to move McMichael to 3C full time. Signing Campbell gives us a shot at competence in goal. If Kuemper would hit the market, I'd go balls to the wall for him. I'd also strongly consider a trade for Varlamov if we can get him for the right price, but I think Campbell is the most realistic bet right now. Adding Mikheyev gives us another speedy winger that can carry the puck through the NZ and kill penalties. Johansen and Alexeyev can battle for the spot next to TVR to see if we've really got anything with either of them. Snively and AJF battle it out for the last forward spot if Hagelin can't come back.

Campbell will get more $$, would rather trade for Varlamov (for the right price, as you said). That's too much for Mikheyev IMO.

I’ve talked to some Leafs fans about what he should get, and a lot have said around this number with the inconsistencies. I think finding a better goalie coach might be beneficial, we haven’t had above average goaltending since Korn left town. I think Mikheyev is pretty underrated, his speed and size would be a great fit for us IMO

Campbell is not a solid starter. He is more the backup that if your starter gets injured you are okay with Campbell filling in short term, but that is it. He is not what you want to rely on, at all. He isn't worth a $4M cap hit.

He certainly is not an improvement over Vanecek. Frankly, he isn't that much of an improvement over Samsonov. if push came to shove, I'd rather keep Samsonov on the cheap than give Campbell $4M, even $3M. Cap better served elsewhere.
