Patrik Laine is essentially putting up a point per game this season, Zero chance that he's taking anything less than $9,000,000 x 8 years. $8,000,000 x 8 years is only a $500,000 raise over his current salary.

Last word a few weeks back was in the mid-$8M range for 5-6 years.

CBJ aren't going to be signing UFA Fs unless (a) they move a few out; and/or (b) they find an absolute steal. I like the idea of OSing a team strapped at the cap like VGK, but I don't see it happening.

Good chance Gus gets moved at/around the draft. Roy is fine, but redundant to a lot of the M6 guys we already have, so I don't see it happening. If I had to guess, one of Bemstrom/ Foudy isn't with the team next year, since there just isn't enough space on CBJ, and either one would likely be claimed on waivers.

Actually this would lend some credence to leaving guys like Johnson, Chinakhov, Marchenko, and whoever the Jackets draft in June to stay in Cleveland or junior/league they currently reside in. Sign guys like Bemstrom and Foudy to one year deals give them ample opportunity to increase their value by getting ice time and exposure and allow the young guys like the aforementioned to get valuable ice time in Cleveland. Next year I expect to be down so we have a chance at landing some of the very highly touted players in the 2023 draft. Essentially setting the Jackets up for a big move in 23/24 season.

Even still. Difference between stop-gap guys/ more time for current players than OSing a guy. I'd be all for giving KJ, Chinny, and Marchy ample CLE time. I'm not sure it is going to happen, though.

Can you guys tell me more about Peeke? His +/- isn't good, but neither is the team right now. His TOI, hits, shot blocks stats are all great. Is he a legit partner for Werenski long term or is he a 3rd or 2nd pair dman playing more minutes?

IMO, a 2nd/3rd pairing guy. CBJ need more true RDs. I think Peeke has been filling in admirably, but 1D shouldn't be where he is playing long-term.

Is Ceulemans projected to be 1RD partner for Werenski? I don't know much about him either

I think he could, though that feels a bit rich...for now.

Ceulemans started slow, but finished the year really strong in the NCAA. Most people smarter than I see him as a project needing a few more years of seasoning, though.

So, even if he gets there, might not be for another 2-3 years.
