Description

Unproven middle 6 Cs with Newhook and Meyers, but they are insulated by very solid 2 way wingers. On paper the forward core wont be as good as in 21-22 since they cant bring everyone back and stay under the cap, but I think this is still a very good forward group. The top line could also be split up to even out the lines if needed. Any of Nichushkin, Lehkonen, Mikheyev could slide into that top LW spot with MacKinnon and Rantanen and Landeskog could slide down to line 2

D core is still stacked

I’m not going to get into the Holl discussion or how I hate the idea of EJ second pair and Girard third pair ( as we’ve already discussed this today).

As for Mikheyev, i like it. I think he’s a good middle 6 scoring threat.

Cousins is a waste of money imo, anybody playing on the 4th line needs to be around or under $1M in salary. I agree to that if Burakovsky and Kadri are lost in FA the smart move is to put Landeskog with Newhook. Mikheyev I like as well, I’d be tempted to see what he would look like with MacKinnon and Rantanen with his speed.

You can have Holl though, unless Lyubuskin leaves. A 3rd seems about the right price too. Good team all around.
