Description
$26M Ballpark starting point. Who are you signing? We’ve got $ for quite a few adds.

Let’s try this. You can make 2 big splashes for but it’ll be tight next year. I figured 10x4 + 7x3 for the 8.7s

Johnny Gaudreau easily gets $9,500,000 x 8 years from Calgary he's not taking less to play in New Jersey. Filip Forsberg gets more and Jack Campbell and Ville Husso get more as well.

Zacha has positive value.
I am hoping Wood will return healthy, so he is worth bringing back.
Tatar has his moments, but I don't think he is bought in to team game.

I'd use the $$ to acquire the best goalie we can find - either through UFA or through trade (maybe Kuemper?)
I'd add one defensive d-man, ideally in Siegenthaler-type trade (maybe Hague?)
I'd extend Severson long-term.
I'd add one forward, a big-body-soft-hands type, who can play net-front on PP (maybe Nichushkin?)
Don't need puck-carriers or playmakers as much (Gaudreau would be in excess).

I think MAYBE, he will take a discount for New Jersey cuz he’s a jersey boy but I think it’s still over nine

Out of the dumps you have there I think Wood is worth keeping. He’s still relatively young and making strides in his game, we need his speed and grit. I’m fine with the other ones.
That being said, all those UFAs are gonna garner a bigger payday, and I’m fine with just signing one goalie and one forward.

I wasn’t arguing we should trade wood or Zacha but what would the cap space look like?

Zacha has had several years to figure it out. He's just a Dollar General version of Travis Zajac.

I'd take a flyer on Wood as a Blues fan. He adds speed, grit, and a minor scoring touch that the Blues will need in the future.

Zacha was our leading scorer last year…and has been 0.7 ppg winger (vs 0.4 ppg center). Holtz is making him expendable. Zajac was a defensive center.
