Description
I think one player in this who do we trade Dumba or Fiala situation that we aren’t talking about is Boldy. Who we are going to want to resign in a year. If I’m Boldy’s agent I would talk Guerin’s ear off about keeping Fiala. Those two on a line have been fantastic and for Boldy’s long term potential on the ice and in the wallet depend on a guy like Fiala on his line. I would even offer a Boldy 2 year bridge to help the cap knowing the potential payday that could be awaiting if he keeps playing like he is.

Columbus could definitely use a RD and Dumba could definitely fit the bill. They have the cap space to sign him to a long term deal. Foudy is a very good prospect, and could help add to our prospect pool and because of the caliber of player he is the draft pick would be a 2nd.
- I know all the comments of Guerin loves Dumba. He wants to resign Dumba. Yes that can all be true. But I think Guerin will do what’s best for the team and it seems that Dumba can be replaced, easier then Fiala. Who can take games over.
- Dumba just bought a house. He makes 6 million a year I bet he can spring for another one or at lest rent. So that won’t stop Guerin from doing what’s best for the team.

Jordan Spence for Ryan O’Rourke both are in or close to ready for NHL time. They are both in a situation where there is a lot of players and not enough roster spots. The Wild could use another RD and the Kings could use a good young LD. (I wouldn’t be surprised at some point in his career Brock Faber comes to Minnesota.)
- One thing that could throw a bit of a wrench into the plans is if Faber won’t sign with LA. Seeing the depth at the RD position. But that is for another day, he is off to hopefully win a Natty.

Kulikov here is merely a cap causality. He is doing better then Goligoski so I don’t want to trade him but with the NMC Goligoski isn’t going anywhere. That is one decision I don’t agree with Guerin on with have some solid depth at D, so I don’t know why we really went out to sign him unless it was to give the flexibility to trade Dumba.

I resigned Middleton he has been great with Spurgeon. He is in for a raise. I don’t think it will be much more then 2 mil. I’m guessing he will do it so he could get past the 3 cap crunch years and he still will be less then 30 and have a chance for another raise. A defenseman’s defenseman.

Fiala I have going 6.75x8. I know that is less then some on here. I know last year he was asking for about 8 and we all know you start high and the bidding goes somewhere in the middle. It seems that if we max out the term he maybe willing to take a slight bit less AAV. (Not much). In the beginning of the year with Boldy he did struggle a bit. So those two together can and have been both benefiting off each other. So don’t be surprised if that doesn’t have a bit of an effect on Guerin’s decision. Fiala has game changing and game taking over ability which is hard to find. So I would do what it takes to keep him. Hence 4 points last game. Where our top line forgot when the game started.
- If for some reason we do trade him. It better be for a kings ransom. And because of cap constraints don’t think he will be on a discount. Because if Econ. 101 taught me anything supply and demand is a powerful thing.

The other two notable RFAs I signed is Mitchell Chaffee he has 36 points in 42 games this year in Iowa and I wouldn’t mind him getting a shot on the 4th line this year or next seems like he has earned a look. Connor Dewar has been solid when called up to the NHL, still young and with plenty of room to grow.

S. Johansson RD, Novak and Wallstedt our the guys I have signed from the reserve list. I wouldn’t sign Filip and take the compensation pick. (I believe it is a 2nd round pick. Correct me if I’m wrong.) These guys would be signed and allowed to develop in Iowa. Wallstedt is the big prize and hope he develops quickly and very effectively.

Nick Deslauriers has been a spark plug for the team and brings extra strength sandpaper. He also might be able to help keep Foligno from fighting. I won’t be holding my breath. I think Bjugstad does give us a big depth guy who can win some face offs and is willing to play wherever he is needed and that could be quite useful, especially with cap problems.
- If we don’t make a trade for a guy like Jordan Spence I think an other could be Justin Braun. He is affordable, strong defensively, RD and it would be 1 year which gives us the flexibility that we desire.
I went with Charlie Lindgren. I don’t know too much about the guy he looks like he has good numbers in the NHL as well as the AHL. He could be a place holder. I know people are talking about resigning MAF, but I’m a little wary of the AAV and think it is better to rely on Talbot. Who has had moments of great as well as some struggles, but overall has done a good job. This is all with the hope of Wallstedt being ready sooner rather then later.
- Would like to know what you think of this Lindgren. Is he good? Wedgewood? Some player that is going to be on the cheaper end of the spectrum.

What do you all think? Would like feedback more then “No, they won’t do that.” Thanks for your feedback in advance.

LA is looking for LHD help that is more NHL ready than O'Rourke. The Kings would be willing to add pieces to get a quality young guy with a couple years under his belt.

Value-wise Minnesota needs to add in a Spence for O'Rourke swap. Spence has a full season of professional hockey under his belt, and has come into the NHL and shown that he belongs. O'Rourke had a shot in the AHL last season while the OHL season was canceled and didn't do anything with it. Like Byfield, Minnesota could have opted to keep him in the AHL instead of sending him back to junior and chose not to. Spence for O'Rourke is not a 1-for-1 deal.

He would have to come with an extension, but otherwise agree.

Not sure when he would be able to sign the extension. Not sure if it has to be in season. Or if he could sign one in the offseason. But there would definitely need that in place for this to transpire. I wouldn’t give up a top prospect and high draft pick for one year of a guy. I would guess a 5-6 year deal. If you want the longest I would go.
- Columbus was chosen because of need and cap space.
