I like the fact that you upgraded the defense and left some wiggle room on Cap space. I don't understand why you would continue to pay 33-yr-old Trevor Daley $3.3M for three years. His stats dropped this year and he has had two major lower body injuries in just over a year. Also, while you brought in some really good young talent, you simultaneously pillaged a lot of youth and picks for the team / farm system. If anyone gets injured, you may have money but no one of quality to bring up to support. Just my thoughts...

Not trying to be mean but i'll give you 1 star, as 3.25mil is a lot for a bottom pairing defenseman, and then Jarry and a move up to a 1st from a 2nd for Slavin? Jaccob Slavin has played REALLY well in Carolina. I also think that's way too much for Landeskog. And why would they lose Maatta? just curious.

Guaranteed Bonino will be more expensive than that, he's probably the best center available in FA behind Hanzal. Also I want nothing to do w/Daley after this year, he's a sieve. Also I think Colorado would want Maatta instead of Dumo, since they're trying to get younger.

I'd have no problem paying him less. It's more of a the devil you know kinda thing. While some of the youth was moved neither of the main big prospects were touched in Sprong and Reese.

With Smith, it's a bottom pair kinda deal since this will be his 3rd system to learn in less than a calendar year with the eventuality is moving up beside Shultz. As far as Jarry/Slavin goes, they have an absolute glut of quality defense and no real goalie prospects. Pens get a top 4 d-man along with a 2nd round pick that probably will only be a mid-round pick they way they should be progressing. Canes get an actual top level potential starting goalie of the future and a late 1st round pick. I would hate to see it but wouldn't be too upset if that 2nd became a 3rd. As far as Landeskog goes, I think that would be what it would take to get him. Pens aren't really losing much and Av's are taking a pretty big salary dump in Hagelin. Maatta just doesn't seem to fit the current and for the foreseeable future system. Just doesn't have the foot speed.

I could see maybe 1/2 a mill more per year for Bonino but if he wants more than that I say let him walk. Boyle would more than likely be my next choice and would in no way cost more than 3 mill per. He may not be a quick or offensive as Bonino but if he's in between Hornqvist and Landy, he'd be fine. Daley is more the devil you know kinda deal. As far as the age aspect on Dumo and Maatta, it's only 3 years and Dumo is farther along in his game maturity then Maatta is in my opinion.

Avs turn down that deal a 100 times out of 100. There is nothing there they want in moving Landeskog for
