Imagine if Boston would’ve got the 2015 draft right, they could’ve had Barzal, Connor, and Chabot. Not to mention Minnesota traded up with Boston in the 5th round to select……. KK97

Everyone would be picking Kaprisov Top 3 now if they had hindsight

If you walk out of a draft with Barzal, Kyle Connor, Thomas Chabot and Kaprisov, you'd form a dynasty

That would’ve been a full 1st line and a top pair LHD in 1 draft, that’s crazy. Still can’t believe they screwed up that draft so bad. Imagine a Top 6 of Barzal, Connor, Kaprizov, Bergeron, Marchand, and Pasta. Top Pairing of Chabot and McAvoy. Obviously they wouldn’t be able to pay them all but that team would win multiple cups together.

Yeah but tbf boston got pasta 25oa the year before and mcavoy 14oa the year after. Its not like they didnt get quality in the draft. 2 stars and a solid player out of 5 picks never earlier than 13 is damn good. Boston takes so much crap about 2015 but nobody looks at 2014-16 and says whoa look what they pulled out of there without premium picks.

Since you can't pay them all, they don't win multiple cups

It’s a theoretical man, don’t take it too serious.

The craziest part about it is, nobody even knew Kaprizov existed prior to the 2015 draft, outside of 1 Wild scout. He was playing in the middle of Siberia for his hometown team. The only reason Minnesota knew of him and drafted him is because one of their amateur scouts had a flight home from Moscow and his plane had to emergency land in Kaprizov’s hometown due to excessive smog from California forest fires that had carried over into Russia. If those forest fires wouldn’t have happened, Kaprizov likely goes undrafted and would’ve signed as a free agent to a different team. One of the crazier ripple effects I personally know of.

Forgot to mention that whoever that Wild scout was, discovered Kaprizov during a 2-3 day layover in Novokuznetsk. Hence, the ripple effect.

There was no screwup about Kaprizov, he was taken in the 5th round and everyone had multiple chances. It's more about credit to Minnesota.

I know, I wasn’t saying it was a screw up, I was alluding to the fact that Boston traded that 5th round pick to Minnesota and Minnesota ended up taking Kaprizov with the pick.

If only Carolina had taken all three of Boston's 2015 picks and gave them 5 for Hanifin as rumored. Barzal, Connor, Chabot, and Aho? goodness.

This shows the bias towards European players, many go unscouted or don't get the same treatment of scouting and development. It's crazy how many gems have gone unseen probably by scouts over the history
