    The habs wouldnt be paying arizona to take weber if anything THEY would be paying the habs to have a way to not spend over 20 million in actual dollars

    Why would Dallas give up a 1st for Petry? If it was Khodoubin and a 3rd I can see that, maybe a 2nd at most.

    It frees up the LTIR spot. They will not want him on there for 4 years

    Absolutely not. Petry is not worth a first. He's basically worth nothing with that contract, age and performance.

    I mean Petry kinda turned back. right now he got 17 points in his last 25 games. At 4,25M with that Kudo contract. I think that's pretty close value

    Nah. If he's doing good you have no reason to trade him.

    If I was Stars GM I'd avoid adding long-term contracts for 35 year olds+. More often they end up bad than good.

    Plus I don't think Habs will retain a contract that long.
