Detroit Red Wings

Created by: Lancebmx
Team: 2022-23 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 26, 2022
Published: Apr. 26, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
First trade - Vegas gets cap relief with a depth physical forward on cheap deal and a decent LD prospect. Detroit gets a LD to eat top pair minutes with Seider, a good forward that can play anywhere in the top 9 and as back up goalie for next season.

Trade 2 - Penguins get a decent prospect and a fourth with some cap relief. Detroit gets a good defender that is still young.

Trade 3 - 3 team trade that I stole from a different AGM. Detroit gets Fiala, Poolman and a 2024 3rd. They also retain on Boeser st 3.5M for 2 years. Vancouver gets Hanas, 2023 2nd and Firstov. Minnesota gets Boeser at 3.5M to replace Fiala's production at a discounted rate for 2 of the 3 years of the expensive buyouts.

Trade 4 - Dallas gets Hronek to replace Klingberg and Erne to replace Faksa. They dump Faksa to Detroit. Detroit gets Faksa, Stankoven and 2 2nds.

Detroit drafts one of the RHD in Jiricek or Nemec with their first round pick.

I'm the end I think this team could actually compete for a playoff spot and be contenders in any two years.

I think most of the trade make sense. Not sure I love replacing Hronek with Poolman though. Fiala deal seems a little high to me. On an 8 year deal i would be looking to have him more in the 6.5-7 mil range. Team is definitely better then this year though. This team is still really weak down the middle. They need a true 2C to have any chance competing.

I don't like Poolman at all to be honest, he's just a stop gap until Jiricek/ Nemec are ready. He would then likely become the 7th D on the team.

Vancouver gets a 2nd and two B type prospects that are years away from playing? I doubt that is remotely sufficient even with Poolman included. While moving Poolman is nice, devaluing Boeser to that degree makes very little sense to Vancouver. They don't need to move him, but I would guess at minimum a 1st and a prospect with middle six upside or as a 2nd pair Rd that is close to playing in the NHL would be required if they were to do so. His contract situation certainly impacts his value, but not this much.

I don't totally disagree with you, I just stole it from a Vancouver fan AGM.

I get that Boeser is a total bargain with the retained salary, but I would only circle back to this offer after I explored many others…

How do you figure to acquire Boeser for literally nothing then flip him for fiala?

Well Firstov is a good prospect, second round pick is 2019. Hanas is another pretty good prospect, also a second round pick taken in 2020. Then add another second round pick, plus taking on Poolman's contract. I wouldn't say that is nothing at all.

Whatever it is it’s certainly not close to enough for Boeser, only way I trade Boeser to Detroit is for something along the lines of zadina and this years 1st

If that is what it takes to get Fiala I would rather the Canucks just trade retained Boeser for him

I don't think the Canucks can afford that

Firstov, Fiala, 3rd for Boeser

Fiala >> Boeser, it would not be Minnesota adding in a trade around those two.

Yes he is, Zadina plus a top 10 protected 1st is a great starting point for Brock

I really hope we don't take another defenseman in this draft. We need to drastically improve the center depth in the organization. We have an abundance of young almost reedy NHL defenseman. I know most of our prospects are LD but there is no need to waste another high end pick on defense at this point.
