Description
I have a 3 hour layover so I will be putting a little time into this one. Can’t cross reference comparisons and do a crazy amount of research since I’m on my phone but here we go. I apologize for any spelling errors

Laine becomes highest paid player on team. Signs for the same time frame as werenski. Major playoff window occurs in 2-3 years.
Bring in Copp, a guy who can play up and down the lineup, is young for a UFA. Hopefully Zach makes a pitch. Sign him on for the same length as Werenski and Laine. Place holder as #1C while Sillinger/Johnson grow. He can switch to wing whenever for development purposes. Also adds toughness. He’s been so successful with skilled players I think he’d work great with Laine/Voracek.. he can be what Dubois was to Panarin and Atkinson. If cost is higher and it probably is so be it.

Roslovic signing is important to me. I keep looking st this roster and just thinking he is the odd man out but how can you sacrifice Columbus’ biggest ambassador? He’s an ideal middle 6 center down the line. If the jackets are contending a skilled 3C who can skate would be huge. He doesn’t get more $ than Jenner.

I think Chinakhov and Marchenko deserve top line minutes in the AHL. Watching these guys play together will be special but no reason to rush. Middle 6 is a log jam.. They can get called up when a middle 6 player gets hurt. We hardly got to see Chinakhov on the powerplay. He needs his shot or he turns into another Bemstrom. Also, really can’t see jarmo trading Gus.. however if it does happen it will be prior to season. This team should compete deadline time, I don’t think they would want to unload him then if their plan is to improve.

I believe Robinson could be expendable due to the Danforth signing. He’s very one dimensional I think he could be a minor trade piece somewhere down the line.

I have left Texier on the IR. I’m not sure what will happen with Tex. All I hope for is his happiness. I don’t think management would trade Tex after what’s been going on but I also firmly believe the Jackets only keep 1 of Roslovic or Texier.

Robinson, a 1st, Bean/Boqvist, Chinakhov/Ceulemans, Texier/Roslovic……. Some sort of package like this for a good mid 20s dman whose an RFA. Something has to happen with the logjam at forward and this D needs to improve.
Sergachev?
Chychrun?
Provorov?

With a guy like that the team takes a step forward. I think the jackets have enough pieces to get a deal done with somebody.

I haven’t even brought up Blankenburg yet.. that kid can play.

I’m not gonna touch goaltending, Elvis isn’t going anywhere. Tarasov or a cheap veteran is fine as back up

Last thing on wishlist would be a sub 2 million big scary dman who will give the young guys some security. Maybe like a Zadorov or somebody, the guy doesn’t have to be great just need somebody to give the kids security until they can defend themselves.. Sillinger and Blankenburg seem to already be there

- If I had to guess, at least one of Foudy/ Bemstrom will not be with the team next year. They are both waivers-exempt and would likely be claimed - Foudy most definitely. I like Robinson and Danforth, who honestly started to gain some momentum as the season went on. With both of them having new extension kicking in next year, I doubt they are moved, unless part of a bigger trade.

- Agreed that Chinny and/or Chenko should be in the AHL next year, if only to start. Chinny should have spent more time there this season, to be frank. I'd even think KJ could benefit from some seasoning in Cleveland.

- Gus should be traded. With retention, I truly believe someone would give up a 1st for him. Or at least a good prospect.

- Laine will not get that much. Aaron Portzline suggested a month or two ago that he and CBJ were already negotiating a deal in the range of $8.5M x 5-6. Mind you, that was *during* his hot streak.

- That feels kind of low for Rosy, who I feel has only begun to scratch his potential. He was very sheltered in WPG, had a (perhaps unsustainable) breakout last year, and I feel likely (hopefully) settled into a constitent role as this year went on. If I had to guess, he and CBJ agree to a one year deal (he'd still be an RFA), and see where he goes from here.

- Tex is difficult. Portzline reported Tex is not only planning on being ready for next season, but he very much wants to be in Columbus; but, the logjam is real, and apparently teams were calling GMJK with some good offers...

- Haven't seen or thought of Copp's fit with CBJ. He doesn't seem like he'd be a bad pick-up...I'd just be worried giving a 6x6 to a guy who really has only recently proven he's worth that kind of money.

A lot of interesting thoughts here. Not to mention whatever players come out of the '22 draft. Though, I keep getting the feeling that if CBJ end up with two 1sts this year, they will use one of them to swing something.

I agree we need to get better defensively, but at the same time I wouldn’t want to rust too much of the future to do it. Roslovic isn’t going anywhere unless he wants to, I think the odd man out is Nyquist, he could also get a decent return as a rental (50% retained), I also see Bemstrom being traded.

Trade idea to Arizona for Chychrun - Foudy, Bemstrom, Bean and 2022 1st (CHI). I wouldn’t trade for Provorov or Sergachev. Of those 3 I’d rank them Chychrun, Provorov then Sergachev, though I wouldn’t hate a Petry for Bemstrom type trade. Petry is older but could be good to have our most experienced defenseman over 25.
