Don’t think the wild would care much about brown. He doesn’t move the needle much for them. That being said j think you’d need to add more for fiala unless that 1st is like 3rd. But I’m sure there would be top5 protected

Switch Brown for Jarventie and it’s a done deal

Is that 1st unprotected? You don’t see those offered up very often on capfriendly. Truth be told though, having any player in any draft not named McDavid, turn out to be a ppg player is a win, so giving up a draft pick, no matter how high, for a sure thing like this in the prime years is a smart deal.

I meant to add that Ottawa would likely retain 50% on Brown as well. I can see them doing the first and a prospect in a Fiala deal, but they probably want to move salary, and with Brown's deal done after this year and players like Greig graduating in coming years, there's no need to pay Brown to stay. I do also understand that the Wild would probably prefer the ELC player.

I forgot to add the protection, Sens likely to keep it if it's top 2, possible to trade if 7 or 8. This trade happens after the draft lottery (if at all obviously) so we would know then and no need for protection in the trade.

You can trade Brown to another team that could use him in a separate deal

Why would it be unprotected? You’re basically doing a draft day trade with the 2022 1st where u already know where the pick is which is most likely 7th or 8th

I think most of us here take it as a given that this trade happens at the draft, or at least after the lottery is drawn. The 1st will be in the 7-9oa range, not a top-3 pick.
