Seriously Austin Czarnik, please no. I dont hate klingberg but he seems a bad fit. I hope we do more at the ld than lagesson a rookie and an old dude. Ill take any help in the top 6 but I'm not optimistic Yzerman pays those guys.

I hope Stevie doesn't sign Palat. He's 31 years old. He's going to be paid more for what he's already done than what'll he'll do in the future. Stevie drafted him so it is a possibility. ☹️ Hard to believe Palat was a 7th round draft pick.

Didn’t want to completely bolster up the defense because Simon Edvinson is definitely gonna get a roster spot next year and if he’s as good as Seider was as a rookie he won’t be put on the 3rd D Pair. Lagesson is a better option than guys like Jordan Oesterle and Jake Walkman based off stuff like GAR and WAR and SPAR

Yes Palat is older but he’s a great player on an amazing team and an overlooked asset. Red Wings don't only need his scoring prowess but his veteran leadership as well, seeing that he’s won 2 cups and knows what it takes to win and how to get to the cup so he brings discipline to the locker room too. But overall he’s a scoring piece that they desperately need and if he’s an overlooked Mid 6 forward on a cup team, he will end up being a heavily relied upon Top 6 forward that could help finish the rebuild and get them to at least the playoffs. I don’t know if he’s enough alone to bring them to the cup but at least he can help us make the playoffs.

Palat has never been a "great" player. That's Stamkos, Kucherov, Point, Hedman and Vasilevskiy. Palat is a very good player who's had a very good career. The term "great" gets thrown around too much. Palat is 31 years old and his best years are behind him. If we're relying on Palat to make us contenders then we're in serious trouble. Palat has been a good support player on an excellent team. Tampa didn't win Cups solely because of Palat. That's like saying the Red Wings won 4 Cups because of Kris Draper.

Besides our biggest need is 2C. This needs to be addressed first before signing or trading for a winger.

Aside from fit, value, etc, no one is bringing in that many outside FAs in one off season. Also, I think everyone needs to pump the brakes on Edvinsson and Cossa. Cossa needs at least a year in GR and Edvinsson isn't a lock to make the team and even if he does, putting him in a top 4 role right out of the gate is a bad idea for his development. Don't forget, Seider had a year in GR before bouncing back to the SHL, during a season in which the SHL was loaded with guys that would have been in the AHL or even NHL if there wasn't a pandemic. Not to mention that Seider's maturity and IQ is off the charts.
