Isles shouldnt do this at all. Salo had a good year and martinez is old and has a big cap hit. Vegas has no leverage plus martinez is coming off an injury.

Martinez has way too big of a cap hit for us to take on. I don't mind that he's old. Those are part of my reasons for saying no.

BUT, I have no issue trading Salo if we get the right piece back. I think his comment about Bridgeport rubbed the team the wrong way, but not only that. Trotz likes to roll three defensive pairings somewhat evenly. If we're going to make another push next season, I don't want an unpolished rookie playing regular minutes.

I dont mind trading salo for the right piece. That being said he played well in bridgeport and when he was called up in the nhl. We went to back to back conference finals playing dobson on the 3rd pair. Obviously hes not dobson but i would have zero problem whatsoever with a salo-mayfield 3rd pair. Hes not going to be any worse than anyone else with that cap hit but he certainly has the potential to be better.
