It makes a lot of sense from the Ducks' perspective and our rebuild. They get 2 additional first-round picks in some pretty deep upcoming drafts, plus two players that can be flipped as valuable rentals at the deadline in Holl and Kerfoot. Sending the 2nds back to Toronto probably more accurately reflects Gibson's current value as he has seen better years in terms of production. I'm just not sure how much better this makes Toronto, but if this trade was on the table and Gibson waives his NTC for it (assuming Toronto is on his list) then from a Ducks fan perspective I would totally accept.

For Toronto they clear inefficient cap for their needs, get an established starter and an extra pick in a depleted draft year for them, essentially at the cost of moving down maybe 20 picks for two years. That was my logic
