oilers say no. Nuge allows for oilers to run that 3 headed monster down the middle. oilers need a G and a DFD not a middle 6 winger with a brutal QO

That teams worse than the one that just lost.

If bergeron is gone, punt.

I don’t see how the edm/bos trade is really beneficial to either team
Craig Smith is an analytics gem for the role he plays, he shouldnt be played more than he is but Boston has fwds on the roster that are much more of an issue.

Yeah, it might be, but how do you actually make a team better without Bergy! I don´t see that as possible without enough high quality prospects... question is if it´s good enough to build upon going forward. With locked contracts on a lot of positions, even Foligno, the only ones of real value is Pasta, Gryz and Carlo... which would not constitute a full rebuild. Smith can be traded but by a lot of people he´s worth keepin. This way we also keep Lohrei and Lysell.

You don’t. Thats what i mean by punt dude. How do you score a touchdown when its 4th and 20. You probably don’t, so you punt to try to better in the future.

Same here. Sell. Sell. Sell. If Bergeron retires any attempt to compete for a cup is moronic.

And has been a 3rd/4th liner before every game before that.

This season? Not really. He bounced around. He got scratched a couple nights. He stunk during the pandemic, no ones denying that. I’m not drawing a correlation, but the timing is certainly suspicious.

He was a first line caliber player before, and he was a first line caliber player after. He’s never been a fourth liner.

I got you completely on the football metaphor... I just don´t see an all in rebuild ever to happen (moronic or not - it´s the faces that are in the cards that decides how the game unfolds)! First, I can´t see the brass &/or owners to ever accept the team to plummet for a number of years (not in a sports city like Boston). Second, you won´t get anything for Marchand - he´s untradeable, he´ll only go where Bergy goes if he ever leaves. Furthermore we just locked up McAvoy and Lindholm to 8 years and has built a goalie tandem with a long perspective in mind (a seasoned one and his protege). On top of that we have Coyle, Hall and Foligno who have NTCConfused. And Smith & Haula are both really cost effective and great attitude/leadership players. This leaves what... Gryz and Carlo to puzzle with - both of whom the brass have put a lot of faith in.

Even if a part of me want´s it to happen, I can´t see a major rebuild happening! My bet is that they´ll try to cover as best they can for an eventual loss of Bergy. One thing is sure though - with the quality of our prospect pool, we need to strengthen through free agency and strike hard at a top six talent! Hopefully trade DeBrusk, Reilly and Studnicka (+) for picks or a really solid player.

If you see another possible scenario, please share it in detail!

Theres no we here. Neither one of us are on the team.

It wasn’t that long ago that Don Sweeney was hired, and instantly traded two major pieces off the roster. So remind me why you think ownership wouldn’t accept it?
Marchand untradable? What? He’ll only go where bergeron goes? Sooo he’ll retire if bergeron retires? He’ll demand to stay in boston through a re-tool? You realize he doesn’t have full no trade protection after July 1, right?
Coyle has a 10-team no-trade list, and that gets downgraded to 8 after July 1.

Just not entirely sure what you’re talking about with any of this. There are plenty of moves the bruins could make to sell, and re-tool. There is no path to success if bergeron retires.

4mil for a consistent 20+ goal scorer is not a high price tag, I'd say it's pretty fair considering he's still relatively young and getting close to scoring 30

But why trade major assets for that when your top 6 is virtually set and they have a really good 3c in nuge. It makes no sense for edmonton.

Ya I don't agree with this trade, it's not good value for EDM
