I don't like trading Glass, but getting a 1st from PHI is nice-- doubt they consider moving it though, especially in this kind of a deal. And does BOS give up a 1st for Johansen? Not sure-- even with cap dumps like Foligno and Reilly coming back.

This is definitely an interesting direction they could go, and one they should consider. All of those guys can be flipped at the deadline for additional picks-- and NSH would have the cap space to retain 50% on 3 of them to increase the returns.

I agree about Glass - it'd be a shame to lose him in a cap dump move, before he gets a real chance in NSH. I don't know that Philly would give up their own 1st to dump JVR, but their beat writer from the Athletic recently speculated they might use the 2024 1st they got from FLA to move him.

Nosek and Foligno are the cap dumps; Reilly is definitely not a cap dump. The real value though is in Haula, an underpaid middle 6 scoring center, and the 1st round pick. Johansen had a nice season, but let's not forget that it was an outlier based in his production in recent years. He's turning 30 this summer. He makes $8m. Scoring is up drastically league-wide, making his 63 point resurgence even less impressive. I think Boston would have to decline this trade.

I mean, BOS has Forbort and Reilly that can play 3LD -- if you get rid of one of them, you're doing so to get rid of the cap so that you can better use it somewhere else instead of having $3m sitting out. At least that's what I mean by Reilly being a cap dump. Just too much money in bottom pairing defenseman.

No shot Philly trades their 2023 1st at all, let alone to dump JVR

Fair enough, my definition of cap dump would be a player whose value is negative due to an overpayment on their contract
